BEYOND BOOKS BEYOND WALLS Libraries are changing every day to meet the changing needs of the people they serve. At the Newcomerstown Public Library we are changing to meet the needs of our community by expanding our services beyond books and beyond our walls. Visit us at: www.newcomerstownlibrary.org. Log on to use the library from home. Use the card catalog to reserve books, DVDs and other materials with the click of a button. We will call you when the item is ready to pick-up at the main desk. Try out an electronic book. You can use your Newcomerstown Library card to access and download E-books to read on your home computer or your mobile media device. After 21-days your E-book will expire and essentially “return itself”. For children the Library subscribes to Tumblebooks, an electronic book service that reads on-line books aloud to children. 24-Hour reference. For important information and research from home or after hours the Library’s website can connect you to a number of high quality databases and a 24-hour reference service called “Know it Now”. Homework help. Between the hours of 2pm and 10pm during weekdays students can email a tutor to help them with school assignments through the “Know it Now” program. Improve job skills and opportunities. Click on the “Learning Express Library” link to find practice tests for Civil Service Exams and the GED as well as career building tools, study guides and writing aides. Don’t have a computer?
