Elizabeth Berg and Jane Hamilton Together, Live and in Person Print

 Jane Hamilton and Elizabeth Berg will be coming to talk, read, answer your questions, and generally carry on. Please come if you can. If you can't, and you care about libraries, send a donation, no matter how small, to the library. Every dollar counts! The $30.00 ticket includes a buffet style dinner provided by Raven's Glenn. What a deal! TWO award winning, best selling, Oprah's Book Club authors AND dinner!! Event to be held at Raven's Glenn Banquet room. No tickets will be available at the door.

20 tickets left!  Call the Library for availability of last minute tickets.  Tickets $30.00 per person-- make checks payable to Friends of the Newcomerstown Library.   Reserved tickets may be picked up at the door.

Walden Books will have books for sale at the event.

There will be give-aways of ten of Elizabeth's books on tape, including her latest novel, THE LAST TIME I SAW YOU. Also, Jane has promised at least one costume change.

 
Book Hound Club Awarded Dollar General Grant Print

BookHound2010Book hounds Murphy and Marley have a nose for finding books for the children who visit the Newcomerstown Public Library. With the help of library staff member, Margaret Hirschfeld, the dogs applied for a Dollar General Literacy Grant to fund The Book Hound Club reading program and purchase books  for area children to enjoy. 

Margaret Hirschfeld received email notification of the award on August 20th. The $2,500 grant will be used to purchase books for the library as well as other supplies and trophies for children who complete the 2011 summer Book Hound Club reading program. 
 
Summer Reading 2010 Grand Prize winners Print

Congratulations to Mason Waycaster, our 2010 Children's Summer Reading grand prize winner, and Kaitlin Colvin, our Young Adult grand prize winner! Mason receives a bicycle generously donated by the local dairy farmer's organization, and Kaitlin receives a $50 gift card to New Towne Mall. Great work, guys!

SOAK UP a GOOD BOOK! Print

Adult-LogoThe Newcomerstown Public Library Summer Reading program for the adults has been SOAK UP a GOOD BOOK!  The lucky reader for the final weekly drawing was Jennifer Moran!  The weekly winners were eligible for the Grand Prize drawing which was held on July 30th!
