New Website Tracks American Library Crisis |

Library Journal has launched a website to track the plight of libraries across America as they struggle with what the American Library Association calls a "perfect storm" of devastating losses in funding at a time Americans are turning to libraries for help more than ever. The Newcomerstown Public Library is among the libraries contributing to the website. Summer Reading 2010 |

“Make Waves” this summer at the Newcomerstown Public Library by joining our 2010 Summer Reading Club. The “Make A Splash” themed program runs from June 7 to July 30 and is open to those aged preschool through high school. Registration allows you to attend our weekly programs, win prizes, make crafts and more. You MUST be registered in order to participate. There will be a grand prize drawing at the finale party on Monday, July 26 for both children and teens. You need not be present to win. All Summer Reading participants attending the finale party will receive awards and prizes for completion. Stop by the library to receive your information packet with full list of events and times!
Registration for the Summer Reading Program begins on June 1. For more information, call Jennifer at the library at 740-498-8228. All programs are free of charge. |

Book Hounds |

Book hounds, Murphy and Marley are celebrating the “Make a Splash” summer reading theme at the Book Hound Club. The Book Hound Club is a separate summer program and children can participate in both the summer reading program, "Make A Splash! Read!", as well as the Book Hound Club. (See details above.)
Murphy and Marley are booking appointments now for the Club that begins Wednesday, June 9 and runs through August 11. Children sign up to read to the dogs for one 15-minute session each Wednesday. Children attending 5 out of the 10 sessions will receive a certificate signed by Murphy and Marley, and children attending 6 or more sessions will receive a Book Hound Trophy.
The awards party is 1pm on August 18th. The Book Hound Club is open to children in grades 1-6.
Parents need to register their child for the program by calling the Newcomerstown Public Library at 498-7706 or 498-8228, or by stopping in at the Library located at 123 East Main Street. Please let the staff know about any special needs a child has when registering.

SOAK UP a GOOD BOOK! |

The Newcomerstown Public Library Summer Reading program for the adults has been SOAK UP a GOOD BOOK! The lucky reader for the final weekly drawing was Jennifer Moran! The weekly winners were eligible for the Grand Prize drawing which was held on July 30th!
